Janet Victoria Goodman of 16 Stacey Drive, Suffolk, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of Jean Knight and Herman Knight (Richetta).

She was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, and she was a child care provider.
Besides her parents, she leaves to cherish her memory her husband, George Newby; one daughter, Deidre Goodman; three sons, Dedrick Goodman, Tevin Goodman and Devin Goodman; five sisters, Jacquline Drew (Edward) of Smithfield, VA, Joyce Johnson (Chris), Jennifer Dildy (Redell) and Juanita Everett (Larry), all of Suffolkk, and Hope Knight of Virginia Beach; one brother, Herman Knight Jr. (Lisa) of Hillsborough, N.C.; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is also survived by a host of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and friends.
A funeral will be held at noon, Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at New Mount Joy Food for Living Church, officiated by Pastor Viola Parker. The family will receive friends at the home of Jean Knight, 1244 White Marsh Road, Suffolk.
