Warrenton H. Manley, 81, of 1405 E. Washington St., Suffolk, Va., died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was a native of Suffolk, Va., and the son of the late Willie W. Manley and Jessie B. Manley Small.

He retired as a supervisor of the General Maintenance Department of the Norfolk Naval Communication in Driver. He was a member of Macedonia A.M.E. Church, where he was a trustee emeritus, member of the lay organization, Wednesday night bible study and the adult Sunday school class. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge No. 48.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Alice Almond Manley; five daughters, Lillian Manley Wilson, of Suffolk, Naomi Toleta Manley Davis, of Lawrenceville, Ga., Machelle Yvette Manley Copeland, Inell E. Manley Ricks and Jewel L. Manley Hoffler, all of Suffolk; four sons, Samuel R. Slaughter, Michael L. Slaughter, both of Suffolk, Warren D. Manley, of Norfolk, Va., and Donnell E. Manley, of Chesapeake, Va.; 20 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha N. Boykins, of Suffolk, and Jessie E. Dean, of Norfolk, Va.; sisters-in-law, Sandra Almond (James), Marjorie Almond (Hermon) and Shirley Branch; brother-in-law, Samuel Almond; special friends, Jarvis Boykins, Clarence White, Dennis Mack, Horace and Lillian Goodman; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Macedonia A.M.E. Church, officiated by the Rev. Charles Harvin. Interment will be at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery.
