Elder Hallet M. Harrell, 93, of 1110 Lake Kennedy Drive, Suffolk, died Friday, May 6, 2011, at Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

He was a native of Corapeake, N.C., and the son of the late James Harrell and Hortense Parker Harrell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella S. Harrell; one daughter, Mary Anne Dailey; one son, Dennis M. Harrell; three sisters, Beatrice Harrell, Ollie Mae Goodman, and Alice Savage; four brothers, William Harrell, Kerry Harrell, Eugene Harrell and Nolden Harrell.

He retired from Naval Ammunition Depot after 31 years. He was a former pastor of Greater New Hope COGIC. He was a member of New Mt. Joy Food For Living Ministry.

He leaves to cherish his memory: five daughters, Michelle Armstrong (Tommy), Ada Willis and Pearlie Godwin, all of Suffolk, Sharry Harrell of Portsmouth and Thelma Strong of Newport News; five sons, Thurman Harrell (Rudean), Dallas Harrell (Christine), Larry Harrell (Marilyn), James Harrell and Walter Harrell, all of Suffolk; 26 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Hoffler of Hampton and Gladys Eason of Corapeake, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries, officiated by Bishop Wilbur Mann. The Rev. Viola Parker is pastor. Interment will be in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. The family will be at the home of his daughter, 507 S. Main Street, Suffolk.
