Storm prepares for season

Southampton Storm Fastpitch is gearing up for the 2012 tournament season. The three teams representing the Storm organization will be competing in the 12U, 14U and 18U divisions. The teams will compete in Softball Nation, NSA, ASA, USSSA and NCUSFA sanctioned tournaments beginning in March.

The fall season, for all three teams, yielded several top-three finishes and served as a “warm-up” period for the girls. The Storm organization added new players to all three age levels.

After the final tournaments in November, all teams took a break. During that time, the organization participated in the Franklin Christmas Parade and took a second-place trophy for entertainment. Each team also did community service events during the holidays, in an effort to give back to the community that has graciously supported them.

Winter conditioning began in January with three days a week of core training, pitching practices and batting practices, which will continue through February.

The girls have also learned how to view and study film in an effort to visualize, focus and learn from the greatest NCAA Fastpitch and MLB players.

Southampton Storm Fastpitch is looking for additional players for their 12U, 14U and 18U programs. Those interested in a private try-out for the 12U team should contact Coach Vincent at 653-4638.
