Shirley Ann Stith died peacefully at her residence on Thursday, April 5, 2012. Se was born Aug. 31, 1947. She was predeceased by her parents, Willie Barnes Sr. and Elnora Barnes; and sister, Lenora Barnes.

She was a graduate of East Suffolk High School in Suffolk. She retired from Suffolk Public Schools after 29 years. Shirley was a faithful member of Antioch United Church of Christ, where she sung in the choir and was a member of the Pastor’s Aide. She was also responsible for the beautiful bulletin boards at the church.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving and devoted husband, Charles M. Stith; two daughters, Shawn Tucker (Louis) and Shelia Goodman; one brother, Willie Barnes Jr.; one sister, Phyllis Brown (Rickey); two nieces, Countess Reid and Tiffany Barnes; one nephew, Derrick Reid; six grandchildren, Theresa Goodman, Taylor Goodman, Jerry Goodman III, DeAngelo Boone, Shaniya Tucker and Louis S. Tucker; two great-nieces; four great-nephews; a dedicated and caring family member, Annette Barnes; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Antioch UCC officiated by the Rev. Jarvis Jones. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home Inc. is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
