Dorothy Ann Sharpe, 65, of 307 S. Main St., Apt. A, Suffolk, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Columbus Parker and Pelma Edwards Parker.

She was formerly employed with Suffolk Public Schools as a cafeteria worker. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, where she was in the senior choir, mass choir, missionary, a Sunday school teacher for class No. 1, Pastor’s Aid and member of the kitchen committee at the church.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Lisa Brown (Terrell), of Portsmouth, Va.; three sons, Kenneth Sharpe (Marlena), Joseph Sharpe (Keisha) and Charles Sharpe (Carrie), all of Suffolk; two sisters, Clara Ricks and Sadie Faulk (James), both of Suffolk; one brother, Pastor Larry Parker, of Suffolk; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Piney Grove Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Larry Parker. Interment will be in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Kenneth Sharpe, 113 Woodrow Ave., Suffolk, Va. Crocker Funeral Home Inc. is handling the arrangements.
