Police are investigating a three-vehicle accident that occurred during the lunch hour on North Main Street.

Nine patients have been transported to Sentara Obici Hospital for treatment of what were described as minor injuries.

The accident was reported at 12:23 p.m. in the 800 block of North Main Street. According to a city press release, one vehicle pulled out of the Auto Zone parking lot and into one lane of northbound traffic, hitting a vehicle and causing that vehicle to go into the southbound lane and strike a third vehicle.

Charges are pending.
