The city of Suffolk is under a severe thunderstorm watch through 10 p.m.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected through the evening hours, according to a statement from the National Weather Service. Damaging winds and large hail will be the primary threats.

If severe weather strikes, take cover in an interior room on the ground floor of a substantial building — not a mobile home.
