Richard Carnell Eason

Richard Carnell “Stone” Eason, 66, of Hoffler Apartments, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Oct. 4. He was born on March 26, 1946, in Suffolk, Va., to the late Willie A. Eason Sr. and Nelton E. Tillery Eason.

Stone retired from the city of Norfolk after 26 years of service. He was a lover of sports and played baseball, and he was the family comedian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James A. Eason III, and sister, Mary F. Taylor.

Stone leaves behind two daughters, Barbara Broaden (Richard), and Jean Cherry; son, Curtis Harris; four brothers, Willie A. Eason Jr., Robert L. Eason Sr. (Diane), John S. Eason (Sarah) and Dexter Eason (Linda); four sisters, Martha L. Eason, Lula M. Little (Leroy), Christine E. Edwards (Richmond) and Hellyn M. Eason; two aunts, Eugenia Eason and Rendy Veal; uncle, Edward Chapman; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, family and special friends.

Mr. Eason will be on view at the funeral home from noon to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The family will receive guests at the residence of Mrs. Christine Edwards, 1120 Turner Drive, at all other times. A homegoing service will take place on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, and he will be laid to rest at Eason Family Cemetery.
