Janice G. Roberts, of 1222 Lake Kennedy Drive, Suffolk, Va., died at Sentara Obici Hospital on Oct. 4, 2012. She was the widow of the late Lewis L. Roberts and the daughter of the late Willie Gatling and Otelia Gatling Jennings.

She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and attended Norfolk State University. She graduated from American Beauty Academy in Norfolk, Va. She was a member of Macedonia A.M.E. Church on Pine Street in Suffolk, where she served on the Pastor’s Aid, Missionary Board, Senior Choir and the Lay Organization. She was a member of the Eastern Star No. 115, Golden Gates Temple No. 90, Household of Ruth Grand United Order of Odd Fellows and Amicae, Friends of Zeta Phi Beta of Zeta Amicae of Suffolk, Epsilon Theta Zeta Chapter.

She is survived by one brother, Ocie Lee Jennings, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her godchild, Vontrice Beasley; devoted niece, Mrs. Linnie P. Parker; devoted friend, Ms. Marie Edwards; family member, Mr. Abraham Mitchell; cousin, Charlie Brooks; Mr. Calvin Holland, her long distance driver when she had to go out of town to doctor’s appointments; her caregivers, Ruby Davis and Clara Mae Faulk; other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at Macedonia A.M.E. Church on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. The funeral procession will line up at the residence at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
