SUFFOLK — Robert L. Marlin Sr. ”Bob,” 73, died Oct. 9, 2012, at Veterans Community Living Center located in Hampton, Va., after a long illness.

Bob was the son of Mack and Bessie Marlin and was predeceased by his father, Mack. Survivors include: his mother, Bessie Marlin; his wife, Burmeta W. Marlin; his sister, Mary Jean Lightbourn (Maxwell); son, Robert L. Marlin Jr. (Marina); daughters, Sherry Oglesby (Terry) and Pamela Mason; grandchildren Teree, Joshua, Terri, Clifton and Brooke; and his niece, Tiffany Lightbourn.

At the age of 17, Bob joined the Air Force and served two tours in Vietnam. After 10 years of serving in the military, Bob worked as a civil servant retiring from Fort Monroe as a budget analyst.

Private graveside services will be held Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Condolences can be made at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
