A fifth-grader at Kilby Shores Elementary School has been suspended from school after allegedly stealing cash and checks from a teacher’s desk.

The boy took the envelope, which contained payments for school pictures, from the classroom, according to a police report.

A fellow student told his mother about the incident, according to the report. The mother advised the teacher, who informed the principal.

The money and checks were returned and the photography company declined to prosecute, according to the report.

Suffolk Public Schools spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw said the boy was suspended pending an administrative hearing.
