Three Suffolk men will be collecting donations for Hurricane Sandy victims for the next three weeks before driving them to New York.

Councilman-elect Lue Ward, along with his son Richard Ward and friend Johnnie Edwards, will collect donations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mike Duman Auto Sales, 2300 Godwin Blvd., on three consecutive Saturdays — Dec. 1, 8 and 15.

They will leave on Dec. 15 to carry the items to New York City.

Lue Ward, a native of Brooklyn, and Edwards went to Louisiana twice after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Ward said.

“I didn’t want to go up there and see New York how it was,” Ward said of why he has waited. “But people still really need help.”

The group is looking for donations of clothes, toiletries, water and toys for Christmas.

“Storm or no storm, Christmas is still coming,” Edwards said.
