Driver antiques store facing closure

Driver antiques store Harmony House is liquidating its stock and could go out of business in coming months, owner Phyllis Murphy said.

“We’re liquidating right now,” she said. “We don’t know what final outcome we’ll have and how long it will take to liquidate.”

Selling off its stock may raise enough money to stave off going out of business — otherwise the store will close its doors.

“People have to have gas in their car, they have to have food, but don’t have to buy antiques,” Murphy said.

Murphy had to rebuild the store after a tornado ripped through Driver and other parts of Suffolk in April 2008.
