Deputy Goodman earns promotion

Sheriff Raleigh H. Isaacs Sr. this week announced the promotion of Deputy Sheriff William C. Goodman to deputy sheriff sergeant.

In his new position, Goodman will be the supervisor in charge of Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. This promotion fills the vacancy of recently retired Sgt. Alex Brown.

Sgt. Goodman is a longtime resident of Suffolk, where he graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. He attended Norfolk State University for two years. He then joined the Army National Guard and served six years. Sgt. Goodman was also employed at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail as a corrections officer for six years. He has been with the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office since 1998.

Sgt. Goodman and his wife Tracey have a daughter Laquita and a son William Jr. They live in Suffolk.

“Sgt. Goodman is a well experienced and extremely qualified law enforcement officer,” Isaacs said. “He is well respected in the Suffolk community and has many community-service accomplishments. I know he will do a fine job.”
