Addie Hall Sweatt, 82, of 1920 Carolina Road, Suffolk, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, in Petersburg, Va. She was born in Gates County, N.C., to the late George and Ada Freeman Hall. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Otis L. Sweatt Jr., and a brother, George Earl Hall.

Addie was a retired employer of Autumn Care Nursing Home. She was a member of Mt. Ararat Christian Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Otis L. Sweatt Sr.; daughter, Linda Sweatt-Freeman, of Baltimore, Md.; son, Dwayne L. Sweatt, of Suffolk; one brother, Joseph P. Hall (Susie), of Suffolk; three sisters, Lorraine H. Hardy, Lillie H. Long and Betty H. White (Vernon), all of Suffolk; grandchildren, Tanesha Sweatt, of Chesapeake, Va., and Chase Anthony Freeman (Tiara), of Baltimore, Md.; great-grandchildren, Cyree Brown, Caron Brown, Chloe Simpson; caregiver, Margurite Hill; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Mt. Ararat Christian Church, 1860 Airport Road, Suffolk, officiated by Pastor Harvey H. Murrill. Interment will be in Langston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
