SUFFOLK — Barbara Lorraine McCay, 88, passed away on Dec. 26, 2012. A native of Pasadena, Calif., she was the daughter of the late Henry Irving Scribner and Grace Elliott Scribner. She was also predeceased by her husband, Leonard “Mac” Boyd McCaghren, and a son, Craig Lewis Slawson. Barbara was a homemaker and an artist who loved painting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Irene Owen, of Suffolk, and Penny A. Godlis, of Santa Cruz, Calif.; a son, Reed Michael McCay, of Hemet, Calif.; five grandchildren, Laura “Nani” Stockton, of Suffolk, Peter Owen, of Virginia Beach, James Owen, of Katy, Texas, Deborah Lassiter, of Canoga Park, Calif., and Brian Godlis, of Goleta, Calif.; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at New Branch Community Church, 9608 Windsor Blvd., Windsor, Va., with Pastor John Hunter officiating.
