Henrietta Jane Towns, 87, of 5757 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Bon Secours Maryview Hospital. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late John Davis and Eva Wilson Davis. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty J. Edmonds.

She retired from Smithfield Packing Company. She was a member of Diamond Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Usher Board.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James Towns; a special daughter, Connie Davis; brother, Albert L. Davis (Debbie), of Carrollton, Va.; one grandson, Anthony Davis Sr. (Grace), of Portsmouth, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Anthony Davis Jr. and Daysha Davis, of Suffolk; one great-great-grandchild, Jamari Jenkins, of Suffolk; special nieces, Ernestine Cottle and Nellie Mae Towns; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Diamond Grove Baptist Church, 6890 Crittenden Road, Suffolk, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Calvin A. Lillard. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
