Clyde Douglas Boone, 78, of 1209 Lake Kennedy Drive, Suffolk, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at his residence.

He was a native of Gates County, N.C., and the son of the late Caleb Boone and Mary Alice Boone. He was preceded in death by one daughter; two sisters, Maebell Artis and Alice Sessoms; and four brothers, Randolph Boone, Mitchell Boone, Vance Boone and C.J. Boone.
He retired from Newport News Shipyard. After his retirement, he worked with security at Wackenhut. He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Elsie May Boone; two daughters, Labarbara Goodman of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sandy Boone of Portsmouth; four sons, Calvin Boone (Diane) of Hampton, Gregory C. Boone (Twanda) and Bobby R. Boone, both of Suffolk, and Clarence Wilson of Smithfield; two sisters, Junita Young and Vernadelle Alston, both of Suffolk; two brothers, Carl Boone (Minnie) of Suffolk and Harry Boone of Virginia Beach; 24 grandchildren; sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at St. Paul Baptist Church. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
