IWA loses to Atlantic ShoresPublished 10:26pm Tuesday, January 8, 2013
Isle of Wight Academy battled against a tough Atlantic Shores team before falling 83-61 in Chesapeake on Monday.
The Seahawks got double-figure scoring from four players — Javon Gibbs, Brian Kelley, Jordan Cannady and Brehon Britt — in running their record to 8-3-0 and a perfect 5-0-0 in the Metro Athletic Conference.
The Chargers trailed by as many as 19 in the first half, but then used a 15-3 run leading up to halftime to cut the lead to six points, 42-36, with 20 seconds left.
But the second half largely belonged to Atlantic Shores, which outscored IWA 17-9 in that period on multiple field goals by Cannady and Kelley.
Senior Hunter Triplett (13 points) and sophomore Casey Williams (14 points) paced the Chargers.
IWA, which plays at Summit Christian Tuesday night, fell to 11-4, 3-3.
