A Chesapeake woman faces felony charges stemming from her arrest following an accident on the southbound Portsmouth Boulevard exit ram from I-664 northbound early Wednesday morning.

Nina L. Thomas, 29, of Chesapeake, was charged with driving under the influence, refusal to take a blood or breath test and felony assault on a law enforcement officer, according to a state police press release.
At approximately 1:02 a.m. on Wednesday, Trooper L.A. Jackson and Trooper W.L. Thomas responded to a call for a vehicle crash. A 2010 Scion had crashed into the guardrail, spun around and was facing the wrong direction on the exit ramp. The driver, Thomas, was not injured in the crash, police said.
After police administered a field sobriety test, the driver became uncooperative and combative as troopers tried to place her under arrest, the release stated. Thomas was eventually arrested and taken to the Chesapeake City Jail.
