A night of fun and laughter is less than two weeks away, and several tickets are still available.

The Nansemond River Pilot Club’s 13th annual Womanless Beauty Pageant will be held Jan. 26 at the Suffolk National Guard Armory. The event features local men putting on dresses, high heels and makeup to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Steve Lindblad ("Fatsy Swine") waves to the crowd as the 2012 Miss Relay for Life at the conclusion of last year's Womanless Beauty Pageant, sponsored by the Nansemond River Pilot Club.

“It’s a night of fun and laughter but yet has a serious point — to find a cure,” said Becky Adams of the Pilot Club.

The event includes a dinner provided by Carrabba’s Italian Grill. Money will be raised from ticket sales, a silent auction and money buckets used to vote for the People’s Choice Winner.

Eight contestants are signed up to participate, Adams said.

Sponsors this year include R.W. Baker Funeral Home, Angus Hines LLC, Cross Realty, the Parr family, Suffolk Insurance, Adams Lawn Care and Brooks Removal Service.

Tickets are $20 and can be acquired from Suffolk Insurance, 202 Market St. or 539-9988.
