Hazel Britt, 96, of Suffolk died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Southampton County and the daughter of the late Nathan Smith and Mary Whitfield Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Britt; a daughter, Roye Riddick; and grandson, Christopher Herbert.

She was a member of East End Baptist Church, where she was a former usher.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Al Britt, of Silver Spring, Md.; half-sister, Celestine Rice, of North Carolina; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at East End Baptist Church, 523 E. Washington St., Suffolk, officiated by Dr. Mark A. Croston Sr. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will assemble at Crocker Funeral Home at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday for the procession to the church.
