Crash closes ramp, Route 58 lanePublished 7:07am Friday, January 18, 2013
One lane of Route 58 westbound at the Wilroy Road exit was closed early Friday morning as police worked an accident there between a Nissan Rogue and a tractor trailer.
According to Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink, the accident took place at about 4:50 a.m., when the driver of the 2011 Nissan hit a patch of ice, causing her to lose control and hit the tractor trailer.
The impact punctured the truck’s fuel tank, and it spilled about 60 gallons of diesel fuel onto the roadway, Klink stated in a press release.
There were no injuries in the accident. At 7 a.m., Klink announced that the right lane of Route 58 westbound was still closed in the area of the accident, along with the Wilroy Road on-ramp to Route 58, near Bunny’s Restaurant.
Klink stated the ramp could be closed for several hours.
