The Smithfield & Isle of Wight Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced its first annual Restaurant Week, presenting an opportunity for folks to experience the area’s culinary delights for reduced prices between Feb. 1 and 8.
Participating restaurants will include Bubba-N-Franks Smokehouse in Carrollton, Olde World Tea Company in Smithfield, Smithfield Gourmet Café and Bakery, Smithfield Ice Cream Parlor, Smithfield Station, Smithfield Inn, Tokyo Thai in Smithfield, Captain Chuck-a-Muck’s in Rescue and Country Boy’s BBQ in Windsor.
Those eateries will offer a $10 lunch menu, a $20 dinner menu, or both. The price will include an appetizer, entrée and dessert. Beverages, taxes and tips are not included.
“Each menu will also feature a healthy choice selection to celebrate Smithfield On The Move’s ‘Order Healthy’ project,” according to a news release announcing the event.
The Order Healthy project, intended to help customers make smart nutritional choices at local restaurants, places “Order Healthy” stickers on menus for dishes with fewer calories, fewer calories from saturated fat, less sodium and no trans fat.
The Obici Healthcare Foundation provided the Town of Smithfield a grant to develop Smithfield on the Move and the Order Healthy Project.
Visitors to participating eateries during Restaurant Week are encouraged to fill out response cards, placing them in the running for prizes.
