Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after a “severely burned body” was found near a burning vehicle in Carrollton Tuesday.

After a passing motorist reported a vehicle fire off Nike Park Road about 3:48 a.m., emergency responders found the victim, identified as 21-year-old Torrey Lamont Anderson, on the ground near the vehicle in the 1300 block, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that Anderson, whose last known address is the 3200 block of Marcony Way, Raleigh, N.C., died of a gunshot wound, the release states.

The site close to the corner of Reynolds Drive is in a wooded area and the car had been pulled off into a field, the release states.

Isle of Wight Sheriff’s investigators were joined on the scene by Virginia State Police arson investigators, it added.

Any connection between this man and the registered sex offender(Hemmis) from the same area (Raleigh) who was arrested for manufacturing in Suffolk on Friday night. Pretty ironic how the girls involved with this sex offender are involved with a trial starting today with a “suspect” for arson. Seems the puzzle may fit….not too impossible
