Looking for love

Published 9:56 pm Tuesday, February 12, 2013

In honor of the month with a holiday that celebrates love, the Suffolk Humane Society and Suffolk Animal Care are working together on back-to-back animal adoption events intended to help people find the “purrfect” new family member on which to shower love and affection.

The first event, on Feb. 23, will be at the PetSmart Charities Adoption Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chesapeake Square PetSmart store, 4300 Portsmouth Blvd., Chesapeake. Next, on Feb. 24, adoptable animals will be available at the North Suffolk PetSmart store, 6243 College Drive, Suffolk, also from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There’s nothing quite so unconditional as the love of a family pet for the family that treats it well, and these events are a great way for families to get a look at the animals from Suffolk that are waiting for the “forever homes” where they can experience that affection.

“We have so many loving pets who want nothing more than to have someone to love,” said Debie Jefts, shelter manager for Suffolk Animal Control. “We hope people will come meet our wonderful pets at the PetSmarts on the adoptathon weekend.”
