Marion A. Lewter

Evangelist Marion A. Lewter, 87, peacefully departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 8, 2013, in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Va., surrounded by family.  She was a native of Suffolk, Va., daughter of the late Anna Mariah Hamlin and wife of Wallace J. Lewter Sr. for 65 years.  She was a faithful member of Greater Sweet Beulah Holiness Church and local evangelist in Suffolk, Va.

She was preceded in death by a son, Wallace J. Lewter Jr.; two granddaughters, Michelle Young and Tyra Lee Lewter; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Young.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Wallace J. Lewter Sr.; two daughters, Brenda Nichols (Joel), of Suffolk, Va., and Linda Lewter, of Suffolk, Va.; three sons, Major Lewter Sr. (Myra), of Waldorf, Md., Zann Lewter, of Washington, D.C., and Chester Lewter (Deloris), of Richmond, Va.; one godson, Lonnie Askew (Theresa), of Suffolk, Va.; a goddaughter, Jean Hall, of Washington, D.C.; special nieces, Doris Futrell, of Suffolk, Va. and Evelyn Boone (Jim), of Suffolk, Va.; a sister, Lola Blount, of Richmond, Va.; a special cousin, Elaine Jones, of Suffolk, Va.; brother-in-law Melvin Lewter, of Suffolk, Va.; nine grandchildren, Tamara Brown (Warren), of Richmond, Va., Chante Bradshaw (Shelton), of Portsmouth, Va., Mone Ellis (Heraldo “D”), of Forestville, Md., Major Lewter Jr. (Mani), of Alexandria, Va., Marcus Lewter, of Waldorf, Md., Jamal Lewter and Joshua Lewter, of Richmond, Va., Lisa Lewter, of Washington, D.C., Juanita Peele, of Portsmouth, Va.; great-grandchildren, Techan Nichols, of Suffolk, Va., Marcel Young, of Suffolk, Va., Aaron, Trey, and Brianna Brown, of Richmond, Va., Maniah and Maliah Lewter, of Alexandria, Va. and Raven Ellis, of Fort Washington, Md.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A homegoing service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Greater Sweet Beulah Holiness Church in Suffolk, Va. Interment will follow at Meadow Brook Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home Inc. is handling the arrangements.
