Suffolk should do much with little

To the editor:

Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

We are fortunate to live in a great city, with great people, and a great future. People are moving to Suffolk, because they like it, including me.

But I like it because of the school systems and public services it offers, along with the attractiveness of this historic city. For others to like it, these services must be maintained or improved.

In these economic times, most of us are having to take a little and do a lot. Our schools have done it. As a parent with kids in the system, I have seen some of the needs of this system, including the bus system. Our system appears to be doing as much as it can with the little it has. We all have done the same.

I would ask our city leaders to share our burden, not with the stroke of a pen, but with a determination to do as much as they can with the little they have.

There is a will, and we have to find a way. We must get the most for our money, we must seek best value and best investment, and we have to be the best stewards of what we have.

There are a lot of good heads in this city, and we need to put them together to find a way not only to maintain but improve on what we have.
