Joe Lee Underwood Jr. passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of Joe Lee Underwood Sr. and Mary Ballard Cherry.

He attended Suffolk Public Schools. He was formerly employed at Smithfield Packing Company.

He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Joanne Underwood, of San Diego, Calif.; two sons, Gregory Bivens and Tyreece Britt, of Suffolk; three sisters, Robin White, of Newport News, Phyllis Sheffey (Lewis), of Marion, and Vernestine Edwards, of Norfolk; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, in the chapel of Crocker Funeral Home Inc. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
