The Suffolk Christian Academy softball team lost 12-6 to host Alliance Christian Academy on Tuesday in the Lady Knights’ second game this week.

Though SCA was down 12-3 in the final inning, their head coach, Robert Lester, was pleased with their tenacity.

“They did a really good job of trying to fight back,” he said.

Suffolk Christian scored three runs in the seventh and even loaded the bases before falling to the Lady Falcons.

Hannah Fagan of the Lady Knights had two hits, including a triple, with an RBI, and Caitlin Hankins also contributed two hits and an RBI, along with a stolen base.

On Monday against visiting Norfolk Christian High School, Suffolk Christian kept it close to start with, but the Lady Ambassadors rang up 15 runs in the final three innings to run away with an 18-4 win.

Fagan still threw seven strikeouts on the mound, and as a batter, she had two hits and three RBIs. Hankins had two hits and scored twice; on defense, she threw out two runners on steal attempts.

Kelly Lester contributed a hit and two runs, and Faith Wuellner had a hit and an RBI.

“The Knights showed they are starting to learn how to play more competitive,” Lester stated in an email on Wednesday. “The captains are doing a great job of pushing the younger players, and the last two games have shown that they have learned a lot. With only five games left, we will be pushing harder and harder to get even better.”

Fagan, Hankins and Kelly Lester serve as team captains.

The Lady Knights (0-8) will play at home on Friday against Greenbrier Christian Academy.
