Michael Brett Shaw Jr. was recently elected to the Student Senate at Hampden-Sydney College.

As a representative of the sophomore class, he will serve for the 2013-2014 academic year. Shaw is a graduate of StoneBridge School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael B. Shaw Sr. of Suffolk.

Student self-government, first introduced at the college in 1886, has a long and respected tradition. The Student Senate transacts all student body business and has legislative jurisdiction over various phases of student campus life.
