Willie Vernard “Pete” Wiggins, 69, of 6201 Holy Neck Road, Suffolk, died Friday, May 10, 2013, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of Lillie Mae Bellamy Wiggins Lee and the late Willie Doss Wiggins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jackie Wiggins.

He graduated from Nansemond County Training School and attended Norfolk State University. He was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Willie was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Suffolk.

Besides his mother, he leaves to cherish his wife of 41 years, Carrie Saunders Chavers Wiggins; three daughters, Schlanda “Bunny” Chavers, Kara Venell Wigging of Suffolk and Teresa Turner Street (Robert) of Chester, VA; four grandchildren, Deonate’ Street., Sierra Street., Naleah Chavers, and Christian Wiggins; one sister, Glenda S. Jones (Willie) of New Carrollton, MD; aunts, Mary Riddick, Edith Pierce, Marjorie Montaque and Helen Lee; and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 6100 Holy Neck Road, Suffolk officiated by Rev. William L. Lang. Interment will be in Mt.
