Several chickens and a goat perished in a barn fire Wednesday morning, but firefighters were able to rescue two dogs from the burning structure.

The fire happened in a two-story barn in the 2500 block of Indian Trail. The report was received at 11:19 a.m., and units arrived on scene seven minutes later to find the building fully engulfed in flames.

One firefighter was slightly injured and was treated at the scene, according to a media release.

The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental.
