NRHS loses in SED tourney

The Nansemond River High School boys’ soccer team rode high into the Southeastern District tournament after a sixth-place tie-breaking win over King’s Fork High School, but the Warriors’ run came to an end in the first round.

They lost 4-0 to Western Branch High School on Tuesday at Grassfield High School.

NSA girls’ lacrosse falls in VISAA

The girls’ lacrosse team at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy experienced a quarterfinals exit to the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II state tournament on Tuesday with a 10-7 loss at home to Norfolk Collegiate.

Sophomore Jessie Lerner led the Lady Saints with four goals, and sophomores Grace Haddad and Holly Kozak and senior Alex Mathews scored one apiece.

The Lady Saints finished this season with a 1-4 record in the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools and a 5-12 record overall.

NRHS to host tourney

Nansemond River High School will host the Southeastern District baseball and softball tournaments beginning Friday evening.

The No. 3- and No. 6-seeded teams will play at 5:30 p.m., with the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds following at 7:30 p.m.

The price for admission is $7 for students and adults and $5 for children K-5.
