Ethel Mae Hargrave, 74, of 337 Cedar St., Suffolk, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk, and the daughter of the late Marshanna S. Scott and Hersey F. Sears.

She attended Thomas Nelson Community College. She retired from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital as a supervisor in the ESD Department. She also retired as a registered executive housekeeper at A-1 Environmental Services Inc. She was the president of the TriY Chapter of the International Executive Housekeepers Association.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Malachi L. Hargrave III; four daughters, Cristi M. Hargrave, Angela Hargrave Bazemore (John), Dianna Hargrave Blick (Henry) and Ellen Renee Darden (Larry); three sons, Charles Jones Jr. (Rossetta), Malachi Hargrave IV (Diane) and Antonio Hargrave (Stephanie); brothers and sisters, Margaret A. Sears, of Hampton, Patricia S. Hayes, of Lynnwood, Calif., and William R. Sears, of the Philippines; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, June 28, 2013, at Covenant Community Church officiated by Pastor Harold McPherson. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
