She was the first female moderator of the Sharon Missionary Baptist Association and Allied Bodies of Virginia from 2007 to 2009; was appointed Parent Body Leader of the Virginia Baptist State Convention 2012 to the present; was appointed senior chairman of the Senior Ministry Development Commission of Virginia Baptist State Convention from 2012 to the present; and was appointed oversight pastor, the first appointed position by the Sharon Missionary Baptist Association.
Her husband honored her in the July 7 service. Speakers for the rest of the month are the Rev. Lessie Laury for July 14; the Rev. Janice White for July 21; the Rev. Deborah Gholson for July 28.
The recognition will culminate with a meet and greet reception and a “You Can Come Home” reunion on July 27 on the church grounds.
