Cleo Patra “Lay” Worrell, 81, of 306 N. Fifth St., Suffolk, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at Sentara Obici Hospital.

She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of the late Joshua Young and Annie Young. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray T. Worrell Sr.; granddaughter, Larrissa Snead; sister, Edith Ferguson; one nephew, Jerry Ferguson.

She attended East Suffolk High School. She retired from the Butter Dish Basket Factory. Cleo Patra was a member of Sixth Street Baptist Church and its Sunday School.

She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Joyce Ann Davis and Jean Williams, both of Suffolk, Veronica Worrell and Voncier Goodman (James), both of Richmond; one son, Ray T. Worrell Jr., of Suffolk; one sister, Nellie Mae Gray, of Suffolk; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; one niece, Charlotte Anne Gray; three nephews, Willie Gray Jr., Michael Gray and Sam Ferguson; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, in the chapel of Crocker Funeral Home officiated by Minister Wanda Davis and Pastor Roderick Hawthorne. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Crocker Funeral Home.
