Little joins nursing programPublished 9:02pm Saturday, September 28, 2013
Lucy Little has joined Paul D. Camp Community College as a Skills/Simulation Lab instructor in nursing and allied health.
Most recently, she worked as a registered nurse in the emergency room at Southampton Memorial Hospital, where her duties included directing and coordinating all nursing care for the patients. She will continue duties in the ER on an as-needed basis.
“I couldn’t wait for the fall semester to begin,” Little said. “I really have enjoyed working with nursing students who were completing clinical hours while at the hospital, so I knew this job would be a good fit.”
Little earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Lynchburg College in 2009. She holds certifications in Pediatric Advanced Life Support; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support; and Basic Life Support, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator.
“We are excited to have someone with Lucy’s expertise and love of teaching,” said Dr. Candace Rogers, dean of nursing and allied health. “She understands Paul D. Camp Community College’s commitment to our students.”
Little completed a student nurse apprenticeship at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in 2008 and prior to completing her education, worked as an emergency medical technician. She served as a volunteer firefighter/EMT for Capron Fire and Rescue before moving to Courtland, where she resides with her husband, Cory Little, and children, Gabriel and Kaden. They attend Capron United Methodist Church.
