Bulldogs claim regular season conference crown

The King’s Fork High School boys’ volleyball team defeated visiting Lakeland High School in four sets on Tuesday evening: 25-14, 26-24, 20-25, 25-18.

With this win and Denbigh High School’s loss on the same night, the Bulldogs are the first-ever regular season champions of the Ironclad Conference. King’s Fork now stands at 13-8 overall and 8-1 in the conference.

“Obviously, I’m very pleased,” Bulldogs head coach Joseph Burns wrote in an email. “I feel I owe a lot to my Assistant Coach, Angelique Gatling and to the boys who have worked very hard this year.”

Aireon Leary led the Bulldogs with 10 kills to go with 2.5 blocks and two aces. Brandon Hall had six kills, Chris Roscoe registered five kills and 6.5 blocks and Cal Bailey delivered 24 assists.

Lakeland was led by Ryan Stalnaker with nine kills and 20 assists, while Irvin Ashburn had eight kills and five blocks.

King’s Fork visits Nansemond River High School tonight, while Lakeland hosts Heritage High School.
