Nansemond River High School was dominant in the pool on Saturday. Its boys’ and girls’ teams soundly defeated Lakeland High School 127-28 and 118-48, respectively, at the Great Bridge Swim and Racquet Club in Chesapeake.
For the Warriors, two relay teams broke school records and sophomore Logan Eubanks recorded a state-qualifying time in the 400-meter freestyle.
With a finish of 4:29.47, no one came even close to Eubanks in the 400 free. The closest rival time was one minute and 14 seconds slower.
Eubanks was also a member of the record-breaking relay teams. Michael Betts, Michael Pedersen and Cody Edwards joined him in producing a 2:03.63 time in the 200-meter medley relay, good for first place in the meet.
Jacob Hopple teamed up with Betts, Edwards and Eubanks in the 400-meter freestyle relay as the team broke the school record by coming in first with a time of 4:12.59, more than 40 seconds better than the second-place team.
