One dead in Pruden Boulevard crash

An 80-year-old Suffolk woman died Saturday afternoon in a crash on Pruden Boulevard.

Josephine Gwaltney was pronounced dead upon arrival at Sentara Obici Hospital.

According to a preliminary investigation, the minivan she had been riding in struck a Ford F-150 truck that was broken down in the right-hand lane of Pruden Boulevard eastbound in the 5000 block.

The accident took place at 3:59 p.m.

The driver of the truck, Danny Shelton, of Windsor, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Sentara Obici Hospital. Wilfred R. Gwaltney, the driver of the minivan, was not injured.

The roadway will remain closed for several more hours while the investigation continues.
