Suffolk police have identified the victim in a fatal accident that took place Saturday afternoon on U.S. Route 58.

Marin Deon Wilkins, 27, of Suffolk, was driving a 2006 Lincoln when it left the road near the scales and hit several trees around 3:39 p.m., according to a press release from city spokeswoman Diana Klink.

Though one westbound lane remains open, the closure is expected to last until about 8 p.m. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
