A man who pleaded guilty to three of 45 sex crimes last year is facing a new set of charges based upon two new victims who have come forward.

Robert Vance Gallup, 61, is charged with 22 counts of aggravated sexual battery, indecent liberties and sodomy. He was one of 73 defendants indicted by the grand jury this week on 187 charges.

Gallup was arrested last year on charges of forcible sodomy, sexual abuse of a child ages 13 to 15 and sexual abuse of a child in a custodial or supervisory relationship. The charges stemmed from a victim who had contacted the Virginia Beach Police Department to report he had been abused by the suspect numerous times in the mid-1970s and mid-1980s.

After he pleaded guilty to three of those charges last year, the rest of the charges were not prosecuted.

Prosecutor Marie Walls said the new charges stem from two different alleged victims, one of whom is still under the age of 18. Both were young when the alleged acts occurred, she said.
