DECA students earn state awards

Nansemond River High School marketing education students Shedrick Roberts, Chelsea Whitney, Brandon Sargent, Bre’Aunna Rush, Frank Malcom, DuTaliya Saunders, Tala Hughes and, kneeling, Diantre Morris, participated in the Virginia DECA State Leadership Conference, where Hughes was a Top 10 Overall Winner in the job interview section.

Nansemond River High School marketing education students Shedrick Roberts, Chelsea Whitney, Brandon Sargent, Bre’Aunna Rush, Frank Malcom, DuTaliya Saunders, Tala Hughes and, kneeling, Diantre Morris, participated in the Virginia DECA State Leadership Conference, where Hughes was a Top 10 Overall Winner in the job interview section.

Nansemond River High School marketing education students scored enviable results at the Virginia DECA State Leadership Conference, according to marketing education teacher Michele Duncan.

Tala Hughes was a Top 10 Overall Winner in the job interview section and also received a certificate of achievement, Duncan stated in a news release.

Nansemond River High School DECA received the Preferred Award Trophy for submitting the DECA Program of Work Annual Report, according to Duncan, the DECA club’s advisor.

Among other Nansemond River students, Frank Malcom competed in business financial services, while Shedrick Roberts and Brandon Sargent competed in the business law and ethics team decision-making event.

Bre’Aunna Rush and Diantre Morris competed in the financial services team decision-making event, and Chelsea Whitney and DuTaliya Saunders participated in the Student Leadership Development Academy.

“The DECA members had a great experience at the DECA State Conference and had an opportunity to network with students from all over the entire state of Virginia,” Duncan stated.
