Man shot in downtown area

A 30-year-old man was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after having been shot several times in downtown Suffolk on Wednesday evening.

Late Wednesday night, Suffolk police were still investigating the shooting, which took place at about 8:30 p.m. in the area of South 4th Street and East Washington Street, according to Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink.

Klink stated in a press release at 10:45 p.m. that no further details were yet available.
