Cleophus S. Norfleet Sr., 89, of Suffolk, passed away peacefully at Autumn Care of Suffolk Rehabilitation/Skilled Nursing Center on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, the Rev. Dr. Thelma T. Norfleet, and his son, Cleophus S. Norfleet Jr.

He was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church. Mr. Norfleet was past Potentate Arabia Temple No. 12, Portsmouth, and a member of Star of Sharon Masonic Hall No. 231.

He is survived by two daughters, Yvonne N. Willis and Michelle N. Crenshaw; two grandchildren, Danyail P. Beale and Stanley Maurice Norfleet; three great-grandchildren, D’Monyaa, D’Shia and D’Yontay Beale; three sisters, Lillian S. Maddrey, Lottie F. Smallwood and Laura Goodman; a lifetime friend, Eddie L. Hicks; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends at Crocker Funeral Home, 900 E. Washington St., Suffolk, on Saturday, July 26, 2014, from 10 to 11 a.m. before the 11 a.m. service officiated by Bishop Carlton Upton.
