The M&M Hospitality Group, owner of River Stone Chophouse and Vintage Tavern, will sponsor the third annual Passion for Paws, an outdoor picnic and wine tasting to benefit the Suffolk Humane Society, on Sept. 21 at the River Stone Chophouse in Harbour View, from noon to 4 p.m.

The family- and dog-friendly event will feature picnic food, wines, live music by Brian Sewell, a dog costume contest, children’s activities, vendors, a silent auction and a wine auction and more. Well-behaved, vaccinated dogs are welcome and can get in free with a paying human.

Adoptable animals will be available, too.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children 10 and under in advance, $20 for adults and $8 for children 10 and under on the day of the event. Wine tasting tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Tickets can be purchased at both restaurants, at the Suffolk Humane office, located at 4300 Nansemond Parkway, or at Mike Duman Auto Sales, 2300 Godwin Blvd. People may attend without purchasing food or wine tickets.

“This event just keeps getting better and bigger and we are hoping for an even bigger success this year,” said Passion for Paws Chair Teresa Mullins, one of the principals at M&M Hospitality. “People tell us they love being able to bring the entire family, including their four-legged children, to such a wonderful outdoor event.”

The Suffolk Humane Society is dedicated to promoting the welfare of companion animals in the community through sponsoring spay/neuter programs, placing homeless animals in loving permanent homes and providing quality humane education with an emphasis on responsible pet ownership.
