A dump truck snagged power lines and pulled down them and the traffic signal at the intersection of Bennetts Pasture Road and Kings Highway on Thursday afternoon.

It happened about 1:57 p.m., according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink. The driver was not injured.

Dominion Virginia Power and crews from Suffolk Public Works Traffic Engineering responded to make repairs and replace equipment. The work was expected to be completed by about 7 p.m.

Police alternated traffic in the one lane that remained open during repairs, Klink said.
