The School Board has scheduled the dedication of new school Pioneer Elementary for Nov. 9 at 3 p.m.

At Thursday’s monthly meeting, Superintendent Deran Whitney said the first day of school at Pioneer on Sept. 2 was “one of the smoothest” new school openings in his more than 15 years with the district.

“It was a very smooth opening division-wide,” he said. “They (students) recognize what needs to take place. It’s almost as if we didn’t have a break.”
